One of the highlights of a visit to Sunny Hill is a chance to ride on our Just for Fun Rides, a collection of small amusement park rides, monster trucks and other interesting vehicles. Kids of all ages just love these rides!

Tow-Behind Trolley
- Originally built in the mid-west during the 1970s
- Used by and purchased from an amusement park at Wisconsin Dells, WI, in 1992
- Restored to its current condition and provides scenic country rides pulled behind a vehicle

Merry-Go-Round
- Purchased from an amusement park in Wisconsin Dells, WI, in 1992
- Built in late 1940s and run by 110-volt, electric motor
- This ride has beautiful, hand-painted horses and can hold up to eight children at a time

Surrey
- Originally built as a 1984 Ford Parcel Van
- Purchased in 1993 from a catering house near Clifton Park, NY
- Restored from the ground up at Sunny Hill with an inline, 6-cylinder engine and automatic transmission
- Used to transport guests to barbecue at Lake Loree and around Sunny Hill

- 2000 Ford F250 Super Duty Extended Cab 4x4 , one of a kind, “special edition”
- Completely modified by Ford Motor Company to showcase their new Super Duty line of trucks in 2000
- 18” Kelederman air bags over fox gas charged shocks
- 48” Mickey Thompson tires and wheels
- V10 supercharged engine with custom designed headers
- Custom paint & decals with special light package acquired in December 2008 from a gentleman currently serving in the Marines and living in Maryland

- Originally used by a Tennessee Zoo to take supplies to the animals
- Purchased at auction in 1965
- Modified with a 1965 Ford Mustang, 200 cubic inch, V6 engine and automatic, 3-speed transmission
- This customized street rod takes adults and children around the roads of Sunny Hill

M37 Military Truck
- A 1961 Dodge Power Wagon used by the military
- Powered by a 230c.i. flat head, inline, six-cylinder engine with a 4-speed transmission
- It had a variety of uses; military transport, towing of Howitzers and various trailers
- Obtained in 1996 from the Torrington, Connecticut Fire Department
- A popular ride that showcases the vehicle’s versatility on the many trails at Sunny Hill

Road Train
- Built in Italy in 1990
- Used by an amusement park near London for seven years and obtained from a UK Road Train company
- Restored from the ground up at Sunny Hill in 1998
- Powered by a 4-cylinder, water-cooled, Ford diesel engine and 4-speed transmission
- It can carry up to 80 adults and children and can reach speeds of 15 MPH

Swing-Go-Round
- Built circa 1940, this ride shows its versatility in that it can be towed to various locations at Sunny Hill for the delight of the little ones
- Eight children can ride at a time
- Acquired from a local fire department near Albany, NY in 1999 and restored at Sunny Hill

Little Fire Engine
- Built in 1995 by an amusement park company in Front Royal, VA
- Restored and upgraded with an 18-horsepower, twin cylinder engine and hydrostatic drive
- Used by both adults and children for rides around the Sunny Hill properties

AM General Hummer M998
- Built in 1985 by AM General and purchased at private auction in Atlanta, GA in 1999
- Considered by the military as one of the most versatile vehicles in use
- Able to carry passengers through various types of terrain and trails
- It replaced the Willys Jeep
- Powered by a V8 General Motors diesel engine with automatic transmission

Wedding Wagon
- Built during the 1980’s by a carriage builder in Vermont
- Designed to resemble an 1800’s style wedding wagon that was towed by horses and carried the bride, groom, and wedding party from the church to the reception
- Purchased from a dealer in Freehold, NY in 1998

M-561 Gamma Goat Truck
- This extremely rare truck was used as a military personnel carrier during the Vietnam War
- This vehicle has the steepest climbing ability of any rubber-tire vehicle ever built for the military
- It could carry personnel and supplies through swamps and up hills (up to 60 °) and can cruise at 55 MPH for over 400 miles
- Powered by a 4-cylinder, Detroit diesel engine with a 4-speed transmission
- Built in 1970 by Consolidated Diesel and Electric Company

Tow-Behind Hay Ride
- This ride started the JUST FOR FUN RIDES at Sunny Hill
- Built circa 1980 to be used as a tractor-pulled hayride on the scenic country roads of Sunny Hill
- A hay-less, hayride has been added for those guests with allergies

Big Fire Engine
- 1960 B Model Mack Truck
- Originally owned and operated by the New Hyde Park Fire Dept. of Long Island
- Purchased and operated by the Oak Hill / Durham NY Volunteer Fire Company in 1970
- Purchased in 1987 by Sunny Hill and used as a backup water pump for Sunny Hill’s golf course
- Used now for rides around the Sunny Hill properties
- Powered by a 707 c.i., inline, 6 cylinder gas engine and a 5 speed transmission

- Used by the Kiskatom, NY Fire Department from 1970 –1995
- Built in 1970, the Fire Engine has been kept in its original condition including its red paint
- Powered by a 390 V8 Ford engine with 5-speed transmission

Doodle Bug
- Originally built as a 1956 VW Bug
- Powered by a 4-cylinder, 1600 c.c., air-cooled engine with 4-speed transmission
- All the custom woodwork was expertly crafted in the 1970’s by Art Naperstek of Morning Mist Farm (on Plattekill Road, just off the 13th tee)
- Sunny Hill acquired the ride in 1988 for its guests that like exciting rides

- Bought in 2002 from Fred Ropke , of Indiana, owner of the largest private collection of military vehicles
- Used by Marines in Desert Storm as a personnel and cargo carrier
- Originally a M1015A1 with a full tracked electronic weapons platform, then converted by Sunny Hill
- Used to take guests around an obstacle course built for a tank
